Hello my name is Muhammad Farhan Bin Md Jamil, a first-year Bachelor of Information Technology student at UiTM Arau. I enjoy learning about technology and continuously exploring new digital tools and software. I am always curious about how applications and systems are developed, and I like challenging myself by trying out new technologies to expand my knowledge and skills.
This topic has shown me the importance of combining creativity with critical thinking when solving problems. It helped me realize that technical knowledge alone is not enough, especially in the rapidly changing IT industry. Being open to new ideas, adapting to technological advancements, and thinking from different perspectives are essential skills that will help me grow as a future IT professional.
A chronological journey highlighting the milestones, challenges, and breakthroughs encountered during the ICT500 course.
Project Timeline
Project Overview
My Contributions
Research & Problem Analysis
Identified the main issues affecting zakat management, helped develop the Fishbone Diagram, and researched existing zakat systems and user pain points.
UI/UX Design
Assisted in designing the “My Zakat App” interface and suggested user focused features such as a Zakat Calculator, Distribution Tracking, state based zakat rates, Asnaf information, and Impact Journey.
Team Collaboration
Worked closely with teammates during brainstorming, shared ideas during discussions, accepted feedback to improve the project, and completed assigned tasks within deadlines.
Skills I Developed
💡 Critical Thinking
Analysed complex problems using the Fishbone Diagram and evaluated solutions before selecting the most effective one.
🎯 Problem Solving
Designed solutions to improve transparency in zakat distribution and simplified manual processes into a digital workflow.
🤝 Teamwork
Collaborated effectively with four team members and learned to communicate ideas professionally.
🎨 Design Thinking
Applied the SCAMPER method to generate innovative features while focusing on user-friendly interfaces.
📊 Research Skills
Conducted user analysis through personas and studied current zakat management practices.
Challenges Faced
One of the biggest challenges was deciding which features should be included in the application. Different team members had different ideas, but we overcame this by referring back to our user personas and project objectives. This helped us prioritize features that genuinely addressed users’ needs instead of adding unnecessary complexity.
Lessons Learned
This project taught me that technology alone cannot solve social problems. Understanding users, identifying root causes, and designing with empathy are equally important. I also realized the importance of collaboration and structured innovation methods like SCAMPER in developing meaningful solutions.
